France, Macron opens up to the left-wing candidate: “But without Insoumise”. Mélenchon challenges him: “Say yes to a government without our ministers”

After the opening of Emmanuel Macron to the proposals of the French left for the formation of a new government, the leader of France Unsubdued, Jean-Luc Melenchonis already trying to corner the president. In case of refusal, he will thus show the country that the Republicans and Macronians were just a pretext to wreck the negotiations.

Mélenchon’s announcement came during a TV interview Tf1while negotiations are underway between the parties to resolve the impasse on the difficult formation of a government between the forces that have joined forces against the far right of the National Rally Of Marine Le Pen. “To the leaders of the three Macronian parties and to the right I ask: to a government of Lucie Castets, even without ministers of France Insoumise, will you commit yourself not to vote for the censorship allowing him to apply the program what made us win in the legislative elections? – asked Mélenchon – If you answer no, people will say that the ministers of France Insoumise were in fact just a pretext and that it is the program that you don’t want”.

From the left, on Friday morning, encouraging signals had arrived with the talks that were described as constructive. Especially because the socialists, the ecologists, the communists and even the “Insoumis” had appreciated Macron’s promise of a “change of course“, a “turning point” compared to the policy conducted over the past 7 years by the president and his governments. According to reports, the president spoke at length with Lucie Castets, the senior official responsible for Finance at the City of Paris who has so far been the only figure proposed jointly to the head of the Elysée by the left, a few hours before the start of the Olympic Games, on July 26. At the time, Macron had deemed the proposal unacceptable, but today the president was decidedly more willing to discuss it. “I am here to listen,” Macron said, “my priority is institutional stability.” There were many questions and observations between Macron and Castets who, as a candidate for prime minister, was the spokesperson for the gauche. Those present reported that at a certain point, after having asked what the orientations of the New Popular Front were for a government, Macron asked the crucial question: “Will there also be representatives of La France Insoumise?”. The answer was “yes” and the president understood that on that statement the progress in the dialogue would have stopped. But Mélenchon’s move, now, radically changes the scenario.
