Porticello (Palermo), 19 Aug. (Adnkronos) – “First the sailing ship tilted to one side and in a few minutes the boat sank, it all happened in a very short time”. The captain of the vessel, Sir Robert, who was the first to rescue the passengers and crew, told what happened to the Bayesan, which sank in the harbor in front of the port of Porticello (Palermo).
The sailing boat, flying the English flag, was right next to the shipwrecked vessel. They were the ones who rescued the 15 survivors. The alarm was raised shortly before five this morning. The captain reached the mainland with his tender and has now returned to his vessel.
“We heard screams and searched the area with the tender for some time, but after rescuing 15 people we saw no one else,” Sir Robert BP said. “While there was a storm going on we noticed that the boat next to us had launched the red signal flare, so the first mate and I immediately got into the tender to help the passengers. We also rescued a small child.” The Coast Guard units arrived shortly after. But the six missing have still not been found.
