Rome, 9 August (Adnkronos) – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Deloitte, a leading global business services firm with more than 457,000 people, today announced an expansion of their global Olympic partnership. Starting with the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Games and continuing through the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, Deloitte will assume the role of Games Technology Integration Partner for the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Youth Olympic Games. Deloitte will help advance the IOC’s vision to create a new integrated technology infrastructure and platform for the Games to enhance and secure the technology solutions of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the future.

“This is an exciting time for Deloitte, building on the incredible work we have already begun with the IOC on digital transformation, knowledge management infrastructure, as well as athlete support programs and sustainability initiatives,” said John Skowron, Deloitte Vice Chairman, Olympic and Paralympic Games. “In 2022, we launched our ‘partnership with purpose’ with the aim of using Deloitte’s capabilities to deliver on our shared ambition of creating a better world through sport. “We are excited to further develop our collaboration with Deloitte through the expansion of this partnership,” said Ilario Corna, IOC Chief Information and Technology Officer. “The Olympic Games have always been a beacon of innovation and excellence, seeking to set new standards in every aspect of sport. Our commitment to being at the forefront of technological advancement is unwavering, and with Deloitte as our Games technology integration partner, we are poised to reach new heights. Ensuring the robustness, efficiency and sustainability of our technology infrastructure is essential to the seamless running of the Olympic Games.”

This “partnership – added Corna – not only ensures operational excellence, but also plays a crucial role in enhancing the performance of our athletes, while delivering an unforgettable experience to a global audience. Our technology strategy is driven by the desire to break boundaries and inspire the world through the power of sport. Since 2022, Deloitte has been instrumental in our digital transformation journey. Their experience and innovative approach have helped us navigate the ever-changing technology landscape with confidence and agility. Together with Deloitte, we are excited to explore new possibilities and advance the future of technology in sport. We look forward to continuing this journey, setting new benchmarks and inspiring future generations through our commitment to technological advancement and excellence in the world of sport”.

In April 2022, the IOC and Deloitte announced a ten-year partnership TOP (The Olympic Partner) for five editions of the Olympic and Paralympic Games until 2032 – it says – with the aim of radically transforming the way future Olympic and Paralympic Games will be experienced by fans around the world.

Deloitte has been selected as Games Technology Integration Partner from Milano-Cortina 2026 onwards following a competitive process launched by the IOC – the note details – With the expansion of the partnership, Deloitte will design, build, implement, manage and ensure technology integration, application development and cybersecurity services from 2026 to 2032. Deloitte will also support the IOC in implementing the Olympic Agenda 2020 recommendations relating to optimising the delivery of the Olympic Games, developing technologies that can be customised for each Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As a Global Olympic Partner, Deloitte is already applying its deep expertise in business management and consulting to enhance and secure the IOC’s digital ecosystem in support of the Olympic Movement. Deloitte designed, implemented and now manages the digital transformation capabilities of Converge™ by Deloitte for Sports, which powers the Olympic Fan Data platform that enables the IOC to engage with millions of fans around the world. Deloitte also launched the Insights & Knowledge Learning Program for more than 2,000 users across four Organizing Committees, to ensure continued knowledge sharing across the Olympic Games.

All of this – the note reports – will help guide the IOC and the Olympic Movement towards a future in which artificial intelligence will enhance many aspects of human potential, as well as democratize sport and make access to information easier. Deloitte’s Sports Innovation Hub, based in Madrid, is at the heart of this effort, bringing together a wide range of expertise to support cities and organizations with cutting-edge technology solutions to enhance and protect sport’s most important moments.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Deloitte to bring the depth and breadth of our entire organization to bear on the transformation and modernization of platforms that will drive the next generation of technology solutions to optimize the Olympic Games experience,” concluded John Tweardy, Consulting Principal, Olympic & Paralympic Games, Major Events, Deloitte Switzerland. “With Deloitte’s expertise in sport, data-driven marketing, cybersecurity, tax and technologies such as artificial intelligence, we will join with the IOC and other partners to create a ‘one team’ model that we believe can have a lasting, positive impact on the IOC, the Organizing Committees and the fan experience.”
