The Olympic high jump champion GianmarcoDrums wrote a post from his hospital bed: “Probable kidney stone”. Dramatic news for him and for Italian sport: his race in Paris it’s just three days away. Tamberi is hospitalized and has a fever: his Olympics are at serious risk.
Tamberi’s conditions “Unbelievable… It can’t be true,” Tamberi wrote in his post. “I felt a stabbing pain in my side. Emergency room, CT scan, ultrasound, blood tests…. Probably a kidney stone,” he continued. He is now hospitalized: “I find myself, 3 days after the race for which I sacrificed everything, lying in a bed, helplesswith 38.8 fever…“. Tamberi’s plans are already turned upside down: “I was supposed to leave for Paris today and begin my journey towards this big dream and instead I was advised to postpone the flight to Tomorrowin the hope that, with a little bit of restThis nightmare finish”.
The Olympic Champion’s Promise At this point Tamberi’s presence on the track is at high risk. Think of a medal almost utopia. “I can only wait and pray… I don’t deserve all this, I’ve done everything for these Olympics, everything. I really don’t deserve it,” writes a desperate Tamberi. Then the conclusion: “Only one thing is certain, I don’t know how I’ll get there, but I’ll be on that platform and I will give my soul until the last jump, whatever my condition. I swear to you but even before I swear to myself!“.
